Optimización del Sistema de Producción de Hidrocarburos con Análisis Nodal

Nodal analysis is the fundamental method used by production engineers to study and evaluate wells. Nodal Analysis is a technique that allows determining the well flowing condition through the study of two subsystems: “Inflow” (upstream or supply) and “outflow” (downstream or demand) defined by a “Node” (reference point). The nodal analysis concepts apply for natural, artificial lifted wells and even injection wells, for this reason is important to understand the purpose, the assumptions, the phenomena involved as well as the limitations of the method.

Understand the principles of the nodal analysis, the concepts, the phenomena involved and the way they are interrelated with the final goal to predict the flowing rates and pressures through the system for production or injection wells.

Specific Objetives

  • Understand the advantages and limitations of the Nodal Analysis
  • Understand in detail the Inflow performance relationship IPR curve. For single phase and multiphase.
  • Understand in detail Single phase and Multiphase flow in pipes. Multiphase flow correlations how they were developed and how they are used
  • How PVT data affect multiphase flow correlation. Selecting and Adjusting/Tuning multiphase flow correlations
  • Selecting the node location and interpreting the inflow and outflow curves at node location
  • Interpreting nodal analysis for well optimization or best scenario selection.
  • Understand in detail Nodal analysis for injection wells.

DAY 1

  • Evaluation at the beginning of the course.
  • Understand the advantages and limitations of the Nodal Analysis
  • Understand the concepts and phenomena considered by nodal analysis
  • Inflow performance relationship IPR curve. Detailed discussion and clarification of common misconceptions. Uncertainty and error considerations.

DAY 2

  • Productivity index: theoretical, Production test, field values.
  • Skin concept. Damage, Pseudo damage, Stimulations
  • IPR for single phase and multiphase.
  • IPR for multilayer well.

DAY 3

  • Outflow curve
  • Single phase and Multiphase flow. Understanding the complexity of multiphase flow in pipes. Flow patterns. Slippage and holdup concepts. Multiphase flow correlations how they are developed and how they are used
  • How PVT data affect multiphase flow computations.
  • How to use the correlations and PVT data for pressure computations. How to generate the outflow curve.

DAY 4

  • Reference Magnitudes for gradient and pressures
  • Selecting and Adjusting/Tuning multiphase flow correlations
  • Selecting the node location and interpreting the inflow and outflow curves at node location
  • Outflow curve and nodal analysis of artificial lifted wells

DAY 5

  • Interpreting nodal analysis for well optimization or best scenario selection.
  • Nodal analysis for injection wells. Understanding why inflow represents production system and outflow Reservoir performance
  • How stimulation affects injection wells. Avoiding fractures while injecting water.
  • Evaluation after the course
